Археологи из Эстонского морского музея раскрыли новые детали об историческом открытии, сделанном в ходе раскопок средневекового торгового судна в Таллине. Находка включает в себя старейший в Европе работающий сухой компас, обнаруженный на месте крушения корабля, который был обнаружен в 2022 году в районе гавани Старого города.
Артефакты, такие как инструменты, обувь из кожи и оружие, были обнаружены в ходе продолжающихся раскопок и очистки судна. Особое внимание привлек старинный сухой компас, который, несмотря на свой возраст, по-прежнему находится в рабочем состоянии. Этот магнитный компас с сухой картушкой имеет чувствительный элемент, не погруженный в жидкость, что делает его старейшим компасом подобного типа в Европе.
